First PrOgreRammer Challenge topic is use fundementals of Godot for game inspired by White Zombie last album “Astro Creep: 2000.” RetrOgre listen to dat when he little ogre, very heavy compare earlier White Zombie. Now listen, little edgelordy, not too bad. For ogre at least!
First step when make game is come up with game! No can make game by smash face on rocks. RetrOgre try! See many stars, much blood, which strangely appropriate for White Zombie. But no, RetrOgre have to listen to human sing.
Human sing words make image appear in ogre brain.
- “Electric Head” make picture of head… only electric! RetrOgre clever like that.
- Song “Super-Charger Heaven” about cartoon Devilman. Too scary for RetrOgre! Him both devil… AND man?!? Also words about exorcism, but RetrOgre too Catholic for that.
- “Real Solution #9” include quote from Manson family. Oh, Rob Zombie! So edgy.
- “Creature of the Wheel” is good. More quotes, from Omega Man with Charlie Heston. Him say “Get stinky paws off my apes!” in different movie. Rob Zombie like movies.
- “Grease Paint and Monkey Brains” is about clowns? Gambling? RetrOgre not know.
- Den you gets “I, Zombie,” “More Human dan Human” (why no more ogre dan ogre?), “El Phantasmo and der Chicken-Run Blast-O-Rama”, “Blur da Technicolor” and “Blood, Milk, and Sky” with hidden instrumental track.
Lots of good ideas. But for dis one, challenge one, RetrOgre think make game as simple as possible while still being game. So go back to first one, Electric Head.
RetrOgre make game about avoid electric heads dat come bounce at you! Oh no! Scary! But don’t worry… is only game.
So now RetrOgre have idea. Make list of feature, keep in mind scope – want done by Friday, because weekend for relax.
- Single-screen action game
- Player move around, avoid heads, top down 8 direction
- Heads bounce off walls, get faster.
- Points go up as time passes
Dat it. No power up or nuffing, keep it simple. If prototype fun, can make bigger game. Add juice if time left at end.

Dat plan is good. RetrOgre write down in Obsidian, but could also use Trello or Hackenplan or piece of charcoal on cave wall, whatever work!
Next time, cover da mechanics in Godot.
